How to delete someone from a Picture

I came across the following picture with the tall guy out of sync with the rest of the guys. As we work through the tutorial I’ll delete the tall guy from the picture.

Original Picture

Step 0: I’ve used Adobe Photoshop CS 4 for this Tutorial but you could use any version as the tools i used are present in any version. You could also use the Equivalent tools in GIMP.

Step 1: First decide on the object to be replaced. In this case i decided to move the Green Guy to the Left so that he would cover a major portion of the tall guy. After that I would try to replicate the lawn to cover the region occupied by the fat guy.

Step 2: I’ll assume that you have loaded the picture into Photoshop. Choose the quick select tool. {Shortcut key is ‘W’} Click on the Green guy and select him completely. If you select regions that are not part of the Green guy simply hold ‘ALT’ key and click on the Extra region. You may want to decrease the size of the brush.

Step 4: Now that we have the object to be moved. Choose the Move tool and then Press and hold  ‘ALT’ + ‘C’ together and drag the selection over the tall guy. Luckily for me the Green guy covered a major portion of the tall guys lower part. {Optional: Press ‘CTRL’+’T’ and adjust the image however you like } Press ‘CTRL’+’D’ to deselect.

Move green

Step 5: You’ve completed over 80% of the job now. Now comes the easy part. We will now clone the surrounding onto the Extra portions of the Tall guy and the Original Green Guy. To do this select the clone tool {Press ‘S’ to select the Clone tool}. Press and hold the ‘ALT’ key and then click on the Lawn to the right. Bring the Mouse over the Original Green Guy and Hold the Left Mouse Button and swing around to replicate the lawn{The ALT + click that you did initially defines the area to be cloned}. Repeat the procedure with the trees and pavement. It’s all Hand eye co-ordination here.

I ended up with this picture finally.

Just have a little patience and you can do wonders.

What to do when all browsers except Firefox can access the web?

there are 3 scenarios that could prevent your browser from accessing the internet

  • A virus attack has maimed the sockets in your computer
  • A firewall is blocking Firefox's access to the internet
  • The proxy server is invalid

I will go through steps to correct each of them ; preferably you should follow the steps in the order given

In the first case, log into your computer through the safe mode and scan your computer for viruses. You could use one of the Free-Software's such as Avira’s Antivir. If you do find a virus simply put it in Quarantine. Deleting  a virus can sometimes make your system very unstable. What i have found is that quarantining the infected files doesn’t seem to crash your PC.

After the scan is done. Log in as a normal user and run one of the Winsock fixing software's. You could also right click on your Network connection and hit repair Network. If your problem had been due to a virus that should fix it.

Firewall

Your Firewall presents another bottleneck. Ideally speaking you must delete all references to your browser from you Firewall software and if at all there are any references make sure that you allow complete access to the browser.

In the Windows Firewall you could add Firefox or other browser to the exceptions list if it is not there already.

In COMODOD Personal Firewall. Click on the Firewall tab and choose Network Security Policy under Advanced tab. Make sure Firefox is  not blocked.

Under Zone alarm delete all references to Firefox. That should fix any firewall related problems.

PROXY

If all the above steps failed then this must be your problem .Check the proxy settings. You / the virus may have probably re-routed the data through a proxy and forgotten about it(You of course!). To access the proxy settings. Go to  Tools—>Options—>Advanced—>Network—>Network settings. Choose “No Proxy”.

And lo! your browser should be working.

Utsav faces recession

Bangalore’s Oldest Fest and one of India’s most popular Fest’s is in jeopardy this year.

The organizers are finding it hard to find sponsors for this grand fest. The students are being asked to conduct events if they can find sponsors for their own event.

Most IT companies have stopped sponsoring these type of events due to lack of funds.

The students are banking on the alumnii to help them bail out of the crisis. Or  else there would be no Utsav this year
